Several years ago people didn’t even consider having to come up with a hashtag for their wedding because hashtags didn’t even exist! These days, brides agonize over the perfect wedding hashtag for their big day and it’s yet another thing to add to your never-ending wedding to-do list. The reason this can be a big deal is so that post-wedding you will have all of the pictures that guests took at your special day in one place so you won’t miss a single one of them! Don’t know where to start? Let us help you…
To get your started, play around with both of your names (first and/or last) to create something unique and special to you both as a couple. If you both have commonly used names, add in numbers or dates. Think about puns, use rhyming and alliteration or look up synonyms to really get the perfect match. Don’t make it too complicated, you want your guests to remember it and not be too confused. A way to do this is to capitalize the first letter of each word so guests can read it more clearly. Also, make sure to check and see if it has been used before prior to settling on the perfect #! For some extra help, our friends at Wedding Wire have created a wedding hashtag generator! You can also try eWedding’s hashtag generator for some inspiration.
Make sure that you make a sign or signs with your wedding hashtag that will be visible at your reception so guests will actually utilize it. Put it at the entrance to your ceremony and/or reception and try framing some signs that can sit at the bar. You can also post it on your wedding website, save the dates or various social media outlets prior to the big day so your guests can not only document the day of but milestones leading up to it like bridal showers, the bridal luncheon or bachelor/bachelorette parties. Let’s face it, we live in a social world where people are not used to waiting. I remember a time when disposable cameras were put on tables at weddings and afterwards you would wait weeks for your pictures to be developed. Now, it’s instant gratification and instant pictures of your most special day. It also is an interactive way to get all of your guests involved. So go put on your thinking cap and get creative to come up with the perfect #hashtag!
Happy Planning!
