You just got engaged! Congrats! It is without of the doubt one of the most exciting moments on your life so enjoy it, relish in it and show off your new bling! BUT don’t forget you have a big (and FUN) task ahead of you…planning your big day! If it’s overwhelming just call us but if you think you can tackle it on your own or just want to do the planning and bring in a wedding planner to execute the day of then here are the top 3 things that you should do as soon as your special someone puts that ring of your finger!
Start putting together a guest list!
You may already know what size wedding you want or you may have no clue at all! Either way, once you put that pen to paper you may surprise yourself with how many people you want to invite to your big soiree. Don’t forget, most people you invite really count as 2 guests because they will bring a date. The reason this is one of the first things that you need to do is because before you can make a budget and allocate dollars to specific items and before you can look at venues you need to know how many people you are going to need to accommodate.
2. Decide on a date or time of year!
First of all, you need to know much time you have to plan, when works best for you and your fiancé, what season you envision your wedding in but most of all before you can even start looking at venues you need to know when you want your wedding day to take place so you can see if the venue you have always dreamt of is even available!
3. Go venue hunting!
In my opinion, venue hunting can be one of the most fun aspects of planning a wedding! Getting to walk around venues and visualize the most special moment of your life happening right there is so magical. The reason this falls as number #3 on this list is because you need to know #1 and #2 before you can get to this step! Make sure that before you hit the pavement venue hunting you check availability and make appointments for looking at wedding venues. You don’t want to waste your time (or the venues) by not planning ahead. Happy Planning!
